Our First Baby

Every once in a while this puppy still gets a little attention...

Happy Early Birthday, Uncle Gray!

Gray caught a ride with a friend and came into town for a few hours this afternoon.  So, we went over to Mom's to celebrate his upcoming birthday and hear about Auburn life.  He is loving college, and we really enjoyed seeing him for a little bit.

From Aunt Melissa

An email from my sister today (after she helped keep the kids last night) contained the following postscript:

"P.S. I've decided Hallie's favorite new thing to say is, 'I know that, but...'"

The Heart of the Matter

Sara, being gross.

Mommy (a little exasperated):  Sara, why do you have to be so gross?

Sara:  I like gross.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

From our friendly weather blog:

Today is the 45th day in a row with high temperatures 90 or above!

Night and Day

Picking up the kids from day care.

Mommy:   We're going to go to a restaurant for dinner.

Hallie (skipping down the hall):  Yay!  A restaurant!  A restaurant!

Sara:  Noooooooo.  I wanna go home!

Two Years Old

Sara went for her two-year-old checkup last week.  She sang her ABCs for Dr. Anderson and had such fun with him that she proceeded to ask, "Where the doctor go?" for the rest of the day.

She weighed in at 28 pounds, 5 ounces, and is 35 1/2 inches tall.  This puts her in the 90th percentile for height and 75th for weight...a ratio her mommy envies!

We are completely amused by our opinionated little fireball and love the fact that she is more and more conversational every day.  We enjoy listening to her talk with Hallie about all sorts of important issues.

Costume Poll

Last year y'all were great help with my Halloween costume decision.  Since I'm already receiving ads for them (!) I figured I'd go ahead and get some votes.  I am thinking this will be one of the few years I'll get away with matching costumes, so they're going as a unit.  Here are the current choices.  Let me know if you have other suggestions.

1.  The Three Little Pigs
2.  Three Little Kittens Who Lost Their Mittens
3.  Three Blind Mice

Sara's Phrase of the Week

" Oh my dosh!"

A Brand New Year

The Head clan started the new schoolyear yesterday, and I am pleased to report that everyone seemed to have a wonderful first day!  I've always loved the start of a new schoolyear, and I think the girls feel the same.

Hallie will be in Miss Carla's class this year, along with nine (!) other three-year-olds.  Her best friends from the past year or two aren't in her class, but I have confidence she will make a new best friend quickly.  She does know most of the children in her class, because all of the two-year-old classes played together on the playground every day last year.  And she seems taken with Miss Carla.

Sara is in Miss Malania's class this year just like Hallie was.  She is going to be learning how to use the potty, which should be very interesting.  If it's her idea, we're golden.  If not, it could be arduous.  The other day I asked Sara if she was going to start using the potty.  She nodded her head and then grinned and said, "Not yet."  So, I guess she will let us know when it's time.

Brooks still has Miss Lakia but also gained Miss Evelyn, who had Hallie when she was in the infant room.  I couldn't be more pleased with this assignment.  Those two ladies are fabulous at loving on babies, and I can tell Brooks really loves Lakia from the past few months with her.

Both of my big girls will be taking gymnastics this year, and I am very intrigued by how Sara will do.  She's either hot or cold--and completely impenetrable by peer pressure--so it'll either be a resounding success or...not.  Wish us luck!

Rallying Cry

Hallie (in trouble):  I don't want spankings anymore.  I am tired of spankings.

Sara (pumping her fist in the air):  No More 'Pankings!

Cushioning the Blow

(At the dinner table, out of the blue.  Jason is away on a guys' trip for the weekend.)

Hallie:  Mommy, I love you, but....I want to see Daddy.

Roles

Sara (placing blanket on her head and grinning proudly):  Noah!

Hallie:  You're not Noah, Sara.  You're his wife.

This from the child who informed me last night that she wants to go to doctor school like her Aunt Heather when she gets "a little bigger."

School Party!

The Bee had a belated 2nd birthday party at school because Miss Toni was on vacation Monday and Tuesday of last week...and you just can't have a party without her!  I told her I'd be bringing cookies and cookie monster paper products, and I arrived to find them in their party hats, courtesy of Toni.  No wonder my girls love her.

My Girl

After a fun-filled week at Nana Camp, the Bug met us for lunch in Chattanooga today to come home.  She was almost as excited as I was to see her.  By all accounts, she had a great week and Nana even survived to tell about it.

She wanted me to take her picture making her "funny face," so of course I followed instructions!

"Pardon Me Boys...

Is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?"

Hard to tell, thanks to the humidity that kept fogging up my lens.  But yes, yes it is...

After a morning by the pool we stopped by the famous little train for a photo op before meeting Jon, Julie, Charlie, and Hallie for lunch.
