As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.

My Little Mastermind

Hallie and I had a deal:  she could have a piece of gum if she ate all of her spaghetti.  So, of course, her mission became:  Get the gum without eating the spaghetti.

Due to our ongoing negotiations, everyone finished their supper before Hallie (including Sara, who doesn't bargain--she just declared herself "all done" and moved on without the gum).  So we adjourned to the den while Hallie sat at the table playing in her spaghetti.

I took my dessert into the den with me, followed by a suddenly snuggly Sara who was actually gunning for a bite (or several) of my dessert.  As I told Sara that I was not sharing dessert since she didn't eat her dinner, Hallie intervened with, "Do you want a bite of MINE, Sara?"  Sara, not realizing she was about to agree to spaghetti and not dessert, was intrigued by the offer.  Hallie just wanted to clear some space on her plate.  One step closer to gum.

A few minutes later we heard Hallie talking to Archie.  She usually fusses at him more than she talks to him, so our ears perked up.  Suspicious, I cautioned Hallie not to give Archie her spaghetti.  Hallie asked, "Mommy, does the spaghetti have chocolate in it?"  I was confused.  "No, no chocolate in it."  Then I heard her say to Archie, "Then do you want some of it?"  We have emphasized to Hallie that Archie can't eat chocolate.  So that obviously means all other food is fair game.

Long story slightly shorter, she ate most of the spaghetti...or maybe I'll find it hidden somewhere a week from now...regardless, she got the gum, which she chewed until it had to taste like rubber.  And when I say she ate "most" I mean that, yes, she got the gum without eating all of her spaghetti.

Round One goes to Hallie.  I intend to stay strong next time, though.  Really.

And until then I have important intel for future use:  Hallie will do a lot for a piece of gum.

Home Concert

Gray and Melissa returned from Chapel Choir Tour last night, and we went to Gray's last Home Concert tonight.  It was a great concert, and the girls LOVED the puppet team portion, as always!  We keep kidding Gigi that the girls think her church always has puppets because we only come for certain events.  :)

More Fun From Gigi's House

Why does a grouchy Sara-face just crack me up?

A picture worth a thousand words.  :)

Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated Father's Day with our Daddy very early today (because we do everything very early these days for some reason).  We are very thankful for him.  I am so blessed to have a husband who cares for all of us, from killing bugs to bathing babies.  He's every bit the great father I knew he would be.  I have good taste, you see.  :)

Then we went to Gigi's house for lunch and to celebrate with two other wonderful daddies, my Granddaddy and my Dad!
What a wonderful group of men!

Happy Father's Day to the godly, faithful, fabulous men in my life.  I love you all!

Pool Day!

Jason, the girls, and I tried out our new pool membership this morning while Brooks played with Grumpy and Gigi.  As you can tell, we're on a snack break in these shots.  The girls did great in the water!  Jason and I were very pleasantly surprised by their bravery.

Monday Visitors

Mama Pat and Granddaddy came over and kept us company on Monday night this week while Jason was out of town.  They were a huge help to me, and the girls were excited to have playmates on a weeknight.

Playing with Uncle Ted

The girls got to see Uncle Ted and Carolyn last weekend and really enjoyed their visit!

Quote of the Day

Saw this quote on a blog I frequent and had to repost:

The truth is that parents are not really interested in justice. They just want quiet.–Bill Cosby

New (and Old) Friends

Our friend Angela Spain and her kids, Joel and Neeley, came over tonight for supper and to play.
Hallie and Sara had a blast!

Pretty princesses
 "Huddling Up"

As you can see...homemade ice cream for dessert!
Sara enjoyed hers.  I think it took her about 30 minutes to make absolutely sure she got every
drop out of her cup.  Think I'm exaggerating?  Check out the background of the group shot above.  That's Sara still in her chair tipping her cup way after everyone else is finished!

Jury's Still Out...

We're still not quite sure who Brooks looks like, but here are all three of our little cuties at their three month photo shoots.  Who do YOU think he looks like?

On Second Thought...

Maybe growing up fast isn't so bad, after all.  Brooks slept almost 12 HOURS last night!  Woohoo!!

Also, in other large-and-in-charge news, he went to the doctor this morning for a checkup on his ears, and he weighs 16 pounds and 14 ounces!  That's the 98th percentile--and half of Hallie's weight.  I asked Jason if we ought to get him started on strongman competitions at the age of 3.  Anyway, his ears checked out fine and he is quite a cutie.

Growing Up in a Hurry

Someone forgot to tell Brooks that he isn't even three months old until tomorrow.  Jason walked into his room at school to pick him up today and discovered him chilling out in the exersaucer, where apparently he has been passing the time all week!  What?!
I wasn't planning to break out the exersaucer for another couple of months, but...

The girls were very excited about this development and couldn't wait to "help" Brooks discover all the bells and whistles on his new toy.
