We are fresh off the heels of an action-packed wedding weekend for my cousin Lane. The weekend started with the rehearsal on Friday afternoon, where the flower girls squirmed and took turns threatening to buck the system--you know, just enough to put the fear of God in their mommy, who was stationed at the END of a Very Long Aisle, which they would traverse unaccompanied, God help us all.
Then I dropped off the FGs at Gigi's house before joining the rest of my "house family," as Gray has always called us, at the rehearsal dinner.
After eating in childless peace, we went outside to take pictures. And had way too much fun doing so.
With the bride!
We even got a shot of all the first cousins. A rarity for sure.
The House Family.
And the silliness begins with Mom in the Sorority Squat...
We spent Saturday with Gigi and Grumpy, getting haircuts and painting the flower girls' nails.
Then we headed for the church. Don't all our boys look handsome?
Aunt Ellen looked beautiful. :)
As did Grandmother.
And the flower girls, well, they were pretty sure they were princesses the whole afternoon.
Lane was so thoughtful. She gave the girls Wedding Day activity books to color while they waited for the wedding to start.
Aunt Melissa was a bridesmaid, and she got the "privilege" of escorting the flower girls during the recessional. They were happy with this arrangement, of course.
My girls.
And my little man wore his first tie ever!
One of the girls gave B one of her flowers before the ceremony. So he started plucking the petals off one by one, naturally. (It's a good thing he's cute!)
We snapped this one quick. Not anyone's best picture, but they ARE all sitting down!
We made it all the way down the aisle, sat through the ceremony, and recessed without incident! Hallelujah, Amen.
Then came the reception, where Hallie was completely determined to dance with Uncle Gray. It turns out she's pretty hard to turn down, so sure enough...
Look at her face. She's in heaven.
Uncle Gray's friend "Mr. Brent" got in on the action as well, and I think Gray was pretty relieved to share the duties of dancing with two indefatigable flower girls.
Uncle Austin danced too! No unsuspecting male was safe from a big-eyed tug-on-the-pants-leg asking him to dance.
The bride even joined the dancing, which made the girls very happy. They twirled for her.
I watched, amused, from the table by Mama Pat.
Hallie and her hero.
The beautiful bride and her daddy.
