Birthday Celebration!

While we were in Cookeville, Jason and I celebrated our birthday. The grown-ups went out to a nice dinner and then over to Julie and Jon's for a delicious (strawberry!) cake and presents. It was a lot of fun!

Weekend in Cookeville

Note: Nana got left out of the pictures because she took most of them. But rest assured, Hallie got to spend lots of time with her Nana this weekend (now that I think about it, I'm not sure I fed or changed Hallie more than once the whole time we were there!). :)

Sporty Spice

Hallie got new tennis shoes on Tuesday. She looks very grown up in them.

UPDATE: We are currently missing one shoe. Yep, she's had them for 3 days now and kicked one off somewhere between my room and day care this morning. Hopefully it's on the floor at our house... She may not look like me, but I'm afraid I have to claim her penchant for losing things.

NEW UPDATE: After we got home tonight, I found the missing shoe in the covers of my bed, where Hallie played while I got dressed for work on Friday morning. It appears that Hallie decided she didn't want to wear her shoes before we even left the house--and that I was too frazzled to even notice before we got to school.

Prissy Pot

Hallie wore this cute new skirt outfit from her Nana today. As you can see, she was quite amused with herself this morning.

Surprise!

I threw Jason a surprise birthday dinner tonight, since he's turning 30 next week. We enjoyed dinner with the Tates and Sandersons. Thanks to Heather for all her help and to my parents for keeping the Bug!

Daddy's Valentine

Hallie wore pink heart pants and a bow that said "hugs and kisses" for her first Valentine's Day.

Pancake

Hallie had her first pancake yesterday. Daddy made us pink pancakes for Valentine's Day.

Bravo for Uno!

A beagle has won the Westminster Dog Show for the first time ever. Uno's owner said, "He does cuteness well."

From what the article says, he was a crowd favorite. And from my mom, a beagle owner herself: "Go Beagles!!!!! We watched it and cheered like we were at a football game."

UPDATE: Look out, Uno. Jason has declared 2009 "the Year of the Westie." :)

More Fun News for the Cheap -- I Mean Thrifty

I googled "kids eat free" because I was curious how many restaurants ran such specials. I found this comprehensive list. We're too young to benefit yet, but this will be handy information in a few years. We don't have all of the restaurants on the list, but Chick-fil-A, Moe's, and Backyard Burger are all on there.

Fun News on the Horizon

A friend of mine alerted me to the Kids Market and Bargains on the Bluff consignment sales going on around town in the next month or so. I have since found this link, listing all of the area consignment sales coming up. And there are a lot of them!

These things look like a lot of fun and a lot of good merchandise! I have marked my calendar (and my mom's)!

Family Picture

We had to send in a family picture for something today, so we asked our friends Tommy and Amanda Hutton to do a photo shoot in their backyard. I think it turned out pretty cute. Hallie, of course, is waving at them.

Our Little Crawler

Hallie woke up Sunday morning and decided, after weeks of crawling backward, it was time to shift from "Reverse" to "Drive." And she is on the move!

All I can say is, poor Archie--he used to be able to get away.

We Love Hand-Me-Downs

Thanks to cousin Elizabeth (and Aunt Aimee) for letting us borrow this cute outfit!!

Happy Birthday, Grumpy!

We went out to celebrate Grumpy's birthday last night and had a great time. Happy Birthday, Dad!

Tube Update

I called Dr. Anderson the other day and had a chat with him about tubes for the Bug. He recommended waiting to see if she has one more ear infection and then talking about them again. We are scheduled for a (NINE month--can you believe it?) checkup in mid-February, so he'll give her ears a thorough look then.

We agreed that tubes are likely on the horizon, but at this point we're still looking at them from a little ways away.

February...Comes In Like a Lion?

Thanks to the drenching thunderstorms last night, Jason and I ate breakfast under a leak in our kitchen ceiling this morning. Ah, the joys of home ownership. Why do these things happen on Fridays or Saturdays, just in time for gargantuan weekend rates to apply for the repairs?
