Gigi's Birthday

After a fun-filled morning at the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, we drove back to Birmingham to celebrate Gigi's birthday.  Mama Pat hosted us for lunch.

Gigi had a birthday peanut butter pie, which was waaaay better than cake.  :)

Thanks, Mama Pat, for hosting our chaos!  And Happy Birthday, Mom!

Pumpkin Patch!

We packed up our crew on Saturday morning and went to Birmingham to pick up Gigi and Grumpy.  And then we set out for our annual Pumpkin Patch journey to Old Baker Farm.  It was HOT this year, but we still managed to have a good time.

We started out in the corn maze.

We may or may not have had to cheat to find our way out...

Then we went to the barn to check out some animals.  We got to pet a few this year.

And then we went for the horses.  I think this is their favorite part.

Brooks was a little too comfortable on a horse for his mommy's liking.  He kept letting go (!).

Hallie got to ride Queenie, who has been her favorite since she was 3.

The Dads watched the horseback riding from a shady spot.

My little cowboy...

Sara and Brooks rode Peanut, who is their favorite.

We had to go see the calves, who were very friendly as usual.  Brooks loves the animals.  He is fearless around them and likes nothing better than a slobbery lick in the face.

We washed our hands in the trough.  The cold water felt good!

For all of his fearlessness around animals, B is not so in love with heights.  And for all of her skittishness around the animals, Hallie never met a tall structure she didn't want to climb.  She was camped out on top of the hay bales in no time at all.

Here comes my little chicken right back down...

Then it was time to board the hayride and go pick our pumpkins off the vine.  Here we are waiting patiently.

And waiting not so patiently.  Thankfully they were distracted by all the tractors and things to climb on.

And we're off!

Brooks did not love walking in the patch, and I have to admit it is a little treacherous with all the vines and uneven ground.

While Sara searched high and low for the perfect white pumpkin, Hallie went straight for a pumpkin and never doubted her choice.  As she said when we arrived back at the hayride, "I got back first because I know how to pick what I want."  Indeed.

Here's my cowgirl with her perfect white pumpkin.  :)

Headed back with our loot.

We played on the swings and hay bales a little bit longer and then called it a day.

Happy Fall!
