Memorial Day Festivities

Gigi and Grumpy hosted us all for a Memorial Day cookout this evening.  We had a great time seeing everyone!

Karaoke!

Nana and Papa gave Hallie a karaoke set for her birthday, and the girls had fun singing into the microphones this morning.  Ok...Sara didn't really sing.  Just held the mic and danced.  But she kinda looks like a natural with that microphone, don't you think?  :)

Picnic Table

Pat Pat and Grandaddy brought over Hallie's birthday present this morning.  A new picnic table!  Since it was raining, we put it in the den for a trial run, and it was a big hit!  The girls are going to love having a place where they can draw, play with playdough, and eat outside.

Thank You Nana!!

Nana has been here all week taking care of the Bug while Jason and I worked. She missed a concert, a party, and several other previously-scheduled things in Cookeville to do so.  She has been a huge help to us.  (As Jason said earlier, when Nana leaves the laundry is going to spiral out of control.)  And she put up with a whiny, pitiful Hallie all week.  We are SO grateful for our patient, generous Nana.  We love you!

Hallie Update

Martha and I took Hallie to the orthopedist yesterday.  After waiting THREE HOURS we got our x-rays and saw the doctor, who said that her leg was healing well.  In two more weeks, we will go back and get a waterproof cast. (real baths!  yay!)  And the highlight of the visit was the green cast she got.  She had to settle for pink last week at the ER, but Children's South apparently has a few more options to choose from.  The Bug was very glad to see her favorite color in the mix and has been proudly sporting her bright green cast.

Hallie will go back to school on Tuesday.  She went today to pick up her sister and brother and got to see her friends while she was there.  One of them kept pointing to her cast and asking, "What is that?  What is that?"    She is excited about going back to school.  I'm sure some things will be hard, like watching her friends on the playground, but Hallie is a creature of habit and getting back into her routine will be a good thing for her.  She has been out of sorts this week for her poor, sweet Nana and I think a lot of it has to do with the break in her routine and the fact that she hasn't seen her friends or gotten out much.  She's a social little bug, you know.  :)

And I'll leave you with this Hallie quote from tonight:

Hallie:  Can I do that?
Mommy:  When your leg isn't hurt anymore.
Hallie:  And then I'll be alive again?

So dramatic.

Playing with our Cousin

Wheelchair

Aunt Sara sent us this child's wheelchair for the Bug, and I am SO SO grateful (and so is Jason's back!).  And Hallie has adjusted really well to it--she has even figured out how to wheel herself around a little bit.  Thank you, Aunt Sara!
